This was an incredible weekend for the boys and girl

. Each and every one of them gave everything they had while they were on the ice. It truly was a magical moment for everyone that was there.
For me, the game against Sioux City was the best game of hockey I have seen this young team play all year. Sioux City Blue is a regular season 10-1 team that averaged 7 goals per game. They scored 9 goals in their first game of the tourney. Watching our kids play a swarming defense, constantly challenge the puck, take dives to throw their body’s in front of shots, and clear the garbage out from in front of the goal sure made Garrett's job a lot easier. In the end, they held them to 1 goal that Garrett still says they didn't earn. That puck went off both of his legs, through the 5 hole, and then off his stick as he flipped over to knock it away. The entire game was truly a team effort that showed those "northern teams" that Topeka meant business and there most certainly was hockey in Topeka.
The Sioux City Jr Musketeers put on a great tournament. It was very well organized, and everything ran on time. We had a great schedule and couldn't ask for a much better venue. The volunteers were great, and the local kids that I spoke with loved the Jr RoadRunner Logo. The kids that were there from other teams were cheering for Topeka, as long as we were not playing Sioux City.
I would also like to thank Don and Barbara Stone and Coach Langer for their generous support this year. We also can’t forget the great group of RoadRunners that came out to help the boys in practice this year.
Kevin – Lets not forget the coaches! Thanks for a great season!
